Pre-requisites

The course is suitable for both existing and new Managers, however, we recommend one of the following:

  • Experience in a Manager role in the Railway Industry, OR
  • Attendance on a Railway Basic Principles Course (one-day course)


What's covered in the Course

The course covers:

  • Making an initial assessment of the incident
  • Gathering relevant evidence
  • Planning and conducting an effective interview
  • Using “Accimaps” tree of cause and root cause tools
  • Understanding of human factors, error and violation
  • Understanding of immediate, basic and underlying causes
  • Making and tracking SMART recommendations
  • Report writing
  • Investigations into actual events


Qualification

There is no formal qualification associated with this course, however, coursework will be marked and an AssessTech Certificate of Completion will be issued to those successfully completing all work.


Course Delivery

The course is delivered over one day of training, based in a classroom or remotely. It consists of a mixture of formal learning and practical exercises, and includes the following:

  • Account on AssessBook (AssessTech’s online Learning Management System in which candidates submit evidence and other work for their qualifications)
  • Mentorship through investigations, completion of written questions, and assessment
  • Certificate upon completion
  • ACMS Incident module training (optional)
