Adding a quiz to a course

Within your course page, click the 'Turn editing on' button in the top right hand corner:

It will then show the below screen, to add a quiz, click '+ Add an activity or resource':

The below screen will then appear, this will give you all of the options of activities that you can add to your course. As we are adding a quiz, I will click quiz and then click 'add':

You will then need to give the quiz a name and an optional description. If you would like the description to show on the course page, tick the 'Display description on course page':

Next you will need to choose your grading options for the quiz. You will need to set the pass grade, if applicable, choose the number of attempts allowed and also select your grading method:

The next drop down will give you the option to choose the layout, you can have it set that every page only contains one question, or that there are multiple questions per page:

Next you will choose the question behaviour, this will allow you to make the questions shuffle or change with every attempt and will also let you decide when feedback is given:

Next, choose your review options. As we have selected deferred feedback in the previous section, we cannot amend the feedback options for during the attempt, however you can customise what feedback the learner will see from the options below:

The final set of setting up the quiz is setting the activity completions settings, here you will decide on the completion tracking and set the terms for the user passing the course. Once complete, click 'Save and display':

You are now ready to add questions to the quiz. You will be taken to the below screen, click 'Edit quiz' to start adding questions:

To add a question, click the 'Add' button, you will then be given three different options. You can create a new question, add a question from your question bank or add a random question. For this option, we will create a new question. You will be given a few different options for the type of question you would like to add, for this example I will add a multiple choice question:

Add the question name below, the text and also the default mark for the question:

You can then add your answers below. For the correct answer, mark the grade as 100%. If there are multiple answers, you will need to split the 100% mark across the correct answers. You have the option below each answer to also add the feedback:

Next, I will add a short answer question to the quiz:

You have the same options as with the multiple choice question:

Next, I will add a true/false question. You will need to chose the correct answer,  there is also the option to add feedback for each answer:

Once you have added all of your questions, click 'Save' in the top left of the quiz and this will add the quiz to your course:
