Adding a quiz to a course
Within your course page, click the 'Turn editing on' button in the top right hand corner:
It will then show the below screen, to add a quiz, click '+ Add an activity or resource':
The below screen will then appear, this will give you all of the options of activities that you can add to your course. As we are adding a quiz, I will click quiz and then click 'add':
You will then need to give the quiz a name and an optional description. If you would like the description to show on the course page, tick the 'Display description on course page':
Next you will need to choose your grading options for the quiz. You will need to set the pass grade, if applicable, choose the number of attempts allowed and also select your grading method:
The next drop down will give you the option to choose the layout, you can have it set that every page only contains one question, or that there are multiple questions per page:
Next you will choose the question behaviour, this will allow you to make the questions shuffle or change with every attempt and will also let you decide when feedback is given:
Next, choose your review options. As we have selected deferred feedback in the previous section, we cannot amend the feedback options for during the attempt, however you can customise what feedback the learner will see from the options below:
The final set of setting up the quiz is setting the activity completions settings, here you will decide on the completion tracking and set the terms for the user passing the course. Once complete, click 'Save and display':
You are now ready to add questions to the quiz. You will be taken to the below screen, click 'Edit quiz' to start adding questions:
To add a question, click the 'Add' button, you will then be given three different options. You can create a new question, add a question from your question bank or add a random question. For this option, we will create a new question. You will be given a few different options for the type of question you would like to add, for this example I will add a multiple choice question:
Add the question name below, the text and also the default mark for the question:
You can then add your answers below. For the correct answer, mark the grade as 100%. If there are multiple answers, you will need to split the 100% mark across the correct answers. You have the option below each answer to also add the feedback:
Next, I will add a short answer question to the quiz:
You have the same options as with the multiple choice question:
Next, I will add a true/false question. You will need to chose the correct answer, there is also the option to add feedback for each answer:
Once you have added all of your questions, click 'Save' in the top left of the quiz and this will add the quiz to your course:
Adding a seminar to a course
Navigate back to the main quiz page and click '+ Add an activity or resource' in the next topic and choose 'Seminar' from the drop down. You will then be taken to the below page to begin adding the details of your seminar activity:
Here you will give the seminar a name, an optional description, choose how many events will be on the course page, set the cancellation settings for the seminar, choose when you mark the learners attendance and also decide whether you want to track attendance.
The next section shows the grading options, here you will choose the grading method and the pass grade:
Next you will choose the sign up options for the seminar. Here you can decide how many times the user can sign up for the course, set restrictions for allowing subsequent sign ups, decide if users can declare interest in the seminar and decide on approval paths for attending the seminar. The option to declare interest is useful if you wish to see how much interest there would be for a seminar before booking it if the cost is quite high:
There are also options to restrict access to the seminar, calendar settings which will give you the option to show the seminar on the users calendar and also whether you would like to enable manager reservations.
The final section that you will need to fill out is the activity completion settings, here you will decide whether to enable completion tracking, decide the required grade and also the required status for attending:
Once completed, click 'Save and display', you will then be taken to the below page to start adding the events. To do this, click the 'add event' button:
You will then be taken to the below screen where you can add the details of the event. To amend the date and time of the event click the cog and then select the time zone, the start time and the finish time and click 'OK'. You can then also select a room, facilitators and any assets that are required for the event. You can then chose when the sign up starts and closes and confirm the maximum number of bookings:
You then have the option to enable a wait list, allow cancellations and select the minimum bookings. This option is useful if you don't want to go ahead with the event if there are not enough attendees. You can also put any costs here and supply any additional details for the event:
Once you have completed the event information, click 'Save changes' at the bottom of the page. The event will now appear on the seminar page:
Adding an assignment to a course
Navigate back to the main quiz page and click '+ Add an activity or resource' in the next topic and choose 'Assignment from the drop down. You will then be taken to the below page to begin adding the details of your assignment activity:
Here you will add the assignment name and also an optional description. Next you will add the availability which will outline when submissions are available from and also the due date:
